Fake Starbrite Inks

Posted by tommygun on 08/20/10

Dear Starbrite Users,

Our company Tommys Supplies has changed our clear caps to black twist caps to prevent less leakage running down the side of the bottle of our Starbrite Brand. We are also working on a new label so you can wipe off any spills on the bottle and youll be able to read the the descriptions that have been covered. Tommys Supplies has gone through many steps, meeting with fda consultants, testing on our Starbrite Inks, Sterilizing all our colors, etc&to make our inks as safe as possible. Weve been legalized in every country do to our hard work and knowledge to prove to all these health departments that our colors are safe and free of bacteria when leaving our shop, that being said, we. have met all FDA and health requirements!!! Tommys Supplies just wants to let all our loyal customers know that we are constantly on top of things to make sure you and your clients have know worries when purchasing our Starbrite Colors and we will constantly meet all health and safety rules they throw at us.
There is a lot of fake Starbrite Inks coming from China and are being sold on Ebay, Craigslist, etc& Please we do not recommend anyone buying off any of these generic online sites. Starbrite has been very popular for many years and with that you have companies trying to copy them to put a profit in there pockets and destroy the actual companies that have put years of preparation and money into making such a trusting, clean, and safe product, so we want to make our customers aware of this counterfeit that has been going on for quite some time now. Please educate anyone buying on these generic sites that it is a very bad idea for they might not be getting the true Starbrite Brand and they will not be happy with the results along with not having a claen and sterile product. Also please check our website to see our label deisigns at www.tommyssupplies.com to see if you have the right Starbrite Inks. We are working with health departments in all countries to try and stop these companies from selling crap inks and other products that may damage the human body. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully it will stop a lot of people buying from Ebay and all those sorts of sights.

Sincerely
Tom Ringwalt / Owner

( i use Google Translator so bee patient )
tom,
What About Unimax?
not long ago I bought a Canary yellow color and it was the worst color i ever seen,
Just a clear liquid with a pinch of pigment
( It was one of a few really bad products i ordered like rusting "stainless steal" tubs and more)
I swore not to get neer this company and particular that Starbrite color brand ....
do you sell them colors?
do you check that these companies buying and selling only your product and not the false too?
as the owner of the brand, are you responsible for checking at least the big known companies?

by the way you told us to review in your site how the label looks, the label looks the same ( except the caption "sterilized ") and it seems its much easier to copy a product label than the product itself

anyway, assuming your color either bad or fake I'm afraid that after this experience I do not think I'll ever buy Starbrite color gain... Sorry

I do not sell to Unimax so you must of bought a generic ink and sorry you feel that way about Starbrite but it is a preference and you had a bad experience so I totally understand but Canary Yellow is our top selling color, so if you got bad results then it problaby was not our color. Starbrite has become so popular it has been copied tremendously. It is hard to tell who has the real or fake Starbrite, thats why its better to talk to the source and find out who carries our brand which you can email me at sales@tommyssupplies and I would be happy to give that Info.

Sincerely,
Tom

TommyGun,

When you say "generic" are you including the Starbrite sold by Papillion?

Gina

I was wondering the exact same thing. I get the Starbrite colors I use through KingPin and they get it from Papillon.

Yea, What about CAM? they are selling Starbrite too, I really don't like CAM but I'm in Canada and they have a Canadian supplier and I was thinking of ordering Starbrite from them so I wouldn't get raped on the exchange/ customs etc.

I've ordered Starbrite from Unimax in the past and it was good, the Canary Yellow was great, now are you telling me that that Starbrite is a fake?

I think he's saying it could be fake, it might not be fake. But he doesn't sell to them at all so has no way of knowing. I don't know about all of you, but I always feel like I'm not only getting a better price by cutting out the middle man, but that I'm actually going to get what I ordered, and if I don't, it's just ONE phone call away to fix it. I use some starbright, mostly eternal, and a couple others, but I always, always order it straight from the manufacturer., though I feel for the guy in Canada, I don't know why anyone would do anything but order it straight from whoever made it. Solves a whole lot of hassles and guessing. Way too much piracy out there now days to take a chance no matter what the reason. Just my opinion.

Yes Papillon is still making Starbrite and if they are selling to unimax I dont know, why dont you ask them where they are getting it from. What I am saying is that Starbrite is being copied in China and we are working very hard to stop it so if you want to know who the real distributors of Starbrite Brands are then ask the source. Papillon is a seperate company from us for we have split apart. Yes they do produce the Starbrite colors also, that was part of an agreement of our seperation. The difference between Papillon and us "Tommy's Supplies" is that we have the Stabrite Colors tested, FDA registered, and every batch Sterilized which I have documents to prove it. 90% of fake Starbrite Inks are sold on Ebay and all other familiar sites like them. We do sell to CAM in USA & Canada so it is safe to buy from them. If you dont buy our Inks off auction sites then you should be good. Another clue of fake Starbrite is that they sell for about $3 - $4 cheaper then retail price. Professional Tattoo Artists have emailed me to educate people about situations like this and that is what i am doing. I am doing everything I can to make our colors one of the safeest inks on the market and god for bid I'm gonna let someone like China corupt that. All Professional tattoo artist should have the cleanest and purest inks which we are on top of that.

Sincerely
Tom Ringwalt

Tom, I have a question and if you don't wanna answer in this forum atmosphere I understand. If you guys get the ink from Papillon and a batch is found to be sub-standard, FDA wise or otherwise, do you guys notify them that they sent you some less than desirable ink? I know this is getting into personal business territory, but I was just curious as I have usually ordered from Papillon. I have nothing against you guys at all, I was just never aware of the split situation. Thanks for your time.

It sucks to hear that but I think you guys put yourself in this situation.
You said you separated from your partner and now there are two companies making the product (Tommy and Papillon) so I'm assuming that Tommy's is better because of all the testing... But at the same time someone else is using the same name and label (Papillon) and making Starbrite with less regulations....This makes no sense and creates a lot of confusion. If I bought from a supplier and not directly from you, which Starbrite product am I getting, Papillon or Tommy's...? exactly...

When I buy Intenze from whichever reputable supplier I know it's Marios, period.

I don't see it right or fair for the public to think that all Starbrite are the same when they are not.

Question: which one is better Tommy's or Papillon's? What's the different between the Starbrite Tommy makes, Papillon and China? They all have the same label, they all are different companies and they all claim to be "the one".

I think you should have this post on your site so people know what they are facing when buying Starbrite Inks.
This should be clarified right from the bottle and let people decide which one is better. Maybe Papillon should name their ink: "Starbrite The Return" or "Starbrite Part II"

Don't get me wrong, I love the product but now I'm confused.

We have put ourselves in a much better situation and this is why I am educating people on this. Starbrite is the same whether you buy it from papillons or Tommy's but it is cleaner and safer by buying it through us for we sterilize our inks. Its your preference on who you want to get it from. As to tell the difference between who you are buying it from we have changed a few things:
1. Our Bottles have black twist caps on them Papillons has clear
2. Our logo is a little different for we have colored the star in blue and have capitalized the B in StarBrite.
3. Our label has a Sterilized ribbon on the bottom and is desiged a little different.
4. Our name and address of Tommy's Supplies in on the bottom right of the labels
I have wrote on this forum about the Papillon and Tommy's seperation about 5 years ago when we spit. When we sterilize our colors we get a certificate with a batch number. If anyone wants to request the proof please email me. I have a brand new website coming very soon and I will have all this posted with downloadable paperwork.

On Shadows question, we do not get any ink from Papillon and all our batches are different, the FDA knows we are seperated for this is why we registered with them.

As far as the China copy cats go just dont buy off ebay or any auction sites for this is where they are selling fake inks. I had just trademarked the name Starbite in China and am waiting paperwork so I can stop them. Soon they will have lots of trouble selling under our name when i give the health department our trademark paperwork. They will stop all of them except the ones that really buy from me.

I am glad to have this chat so I can clear alot of stuff up on our Brand.

Please feel free to ask any questions or call me if you prefer 860-305-7435, I have no problem discussing this topic.

sincerly
Tom

I finally just went and took a look at your site Tommy. You are peddling the same Chinese shit ever other terrible tattoo supplier out there is selling.

I'll keep getting my starbrites from papillon if I even keep using any sb once the ones I have are gone.

I honestly have a hard time buying into this outrage over Chinese knock offs when you are carrying those awful machines, thats just tossing fuel on the fire.

Just proves it's not about the quality and its all about the $$$

Just another wal-mart style tattoo supplier.

I'm done.

I think ill stay off the forum from now on if this is the kind of stuff to expect when all I was doing was talking about precaution measures to keep people safe of purchasing our Starbrite Brand. Sorry for trying to protect people from getting fake inks.
